I grew up in Marietta, Georgia and attended Lassiter High School.  After high school, I attended Berry College for two years and majored in pre-veterinarian studies.  I was active in the Block and Bridle Club and the Berry College Equestrian team. During the summer of 1995, I transferred to UGA.  I majored in Animal Science with an emphasis in Equine.  I also competed on the UGA Equestrian team and was third in the nation in 1996.  I was also part of the collegiate horse judging team that was ranked 2nd in the nation.  After graduation from my bachelor’s degree, I pursued my Masters in Agriculture Education. I worked full time as a veterinary technician and as a veterinary hospital manager while obtaining my degree.
