FCHS and FCMS to Host Literacy Event

Calling all Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and Slytherins! Fannin County High School and Fannin County Middle School will be co-hosting a free literacy night on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on the Fannin County High School campus. Students, families, and community members are invited to come immerse themselves in the world of Hogwarts. Following the festival, the Swan Drive-in will present a showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at 7:00 p.m. as a fundraiser for FCHS literacy programs.

Pick up your Marauder’s Map at the main entrance to guide you around the campus to our various activities; if you get lost along the way, a wandering wizard will help guide you to your destination! Some of the experiences offered will include: crafting projects, Hogwarts-inspired snacks, potions class, photo prop stations, book group information, dramatic readings, and guidance to unlock the secrets of the interactive content at Pottermore. If individuals need to know their Hogwarts houses, stations will be set up to take the test and get sorted! Once people are sorted, they will be able to take a picture with the Sorting Hat and something to declare their placement. Community partnerships have also generously donated several door prizes to reward the attendance of these avid readers and Harry Potter enthusiasts!

The Future Georgia Educator (FGE) students will provide an age-appropriate experience for some of our younger attendees as they explore the Illustrated  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and play games! Wear your finest Hogwarts regalia, and join us for this magical evening!

Tickets will go on sale for the film at the Swan on October 19, and ticket prices are $4 each, and children under 5 are free of charge. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit FCHS literacy projects.

This event is designed to welcome all ages.
