In August of 2004, I began working for Fannin County at the high school as a paraprofessional. Paraprofessionals work with students with special needs. In the beginning it was students with moderately to severe disabilities, but it has progressed to meeting the needs of students in the resource and inclusion settings that are likely to include subjects such as English, mathematics, physical science, biology, construction, life skills and agriculture. Before coming to Fannin I was a substitute teacher at Union County mostly in the middle school with the Alpine Program.

It is rewarding to see the progress that students make in their journey to graduation. The most rewarding day for anyone that works in education is the day that the achievement is recognized. Many years in education has proven to me that the best achievements are when the student recognizes that they can do something, do it well, and do it with flexibility.

I came from Atlanta via Robbinsville working in bookkeeping, accounting, and taxes. Previous to Atlanta I lived in Melbourne, Florida for twenty seven years, riding out two hurricanes. The schools that I have graduated from include Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne in 1980, Rollins College at Patrick Air Force Base in 1984, and Grand Canyon University On-line from Phoenix, Arizona in 2009.

Activities that I enjoy outside of the classroom include reading, hiking, swimming, walking, and volunteer activities.
