I am excited to begin my thirteenth year in the teaching profession and my sixth year here at Fannin County High School.  I began my teaching career at Pickens High School teaching ninth through twelfth grade English courses, including AP English Literature.  At Pickens, I developed and taught an SAT Preparation course and a debate class. I decided to return to my home school system, and I first spent that time educating the youth of Fannin County Middle School in eighth grade language arts classes.  However, my true passion lies in teaching at the high school level, and I am thrilled to return to teaching that level.  This year, I will be specializing in ninth grade literature and AP English literature.  I earned my Ed.S. degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I also received the Innovation in Teaching Grant through Governor Deal and the Department of Education, and I was one of the finalists for Georgia’s Teacher of the Year. I served on the House of Representative's Study Committee on the role of federal government in Georgia's education.

In addition to my role in the classroom (in hopefully providing an enthusiastic learning experience for all of my students), I adore my role as the FCHS Mock Trial Team coach.  Mock Trial Team, an extracurricular activity sponsored by the Georgia State Bar, is an endeavor close to my heart, and I am so excited that students of Fannin County have this fantastic opportunity available to them.

I'm pleased to be a native of Fannin County and to return to serve the community that help shaped me into the person I am today.  I am married, and until recently, my husband and I only had to be responsible for our dog Daisy and our two cats. However, the most prominent event in my life is the birth of my daughter, Addison, who just started pre-school.  In addition to living life (with a hopefully minimum number of injuries caused by an astonishing lack of balance), I love to read and to travel.  My reading loves range from Victorian British literature to modern American literature to science fiction.  I am currently making a focused effort to bring more non-fiction into my reading selections on a dreary day.  My adventures have included England, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, and Italy, as well as locations in the United States; now travel seems slightly more exciting and complicated as I look forward to introducing Addison to the world.
